This first installment of my little new idea was A.'s present to me for my birthday. I wanted to share it with you because of the way it made me feel. Having beautiful things around counterbalances everything else life throws at us, and even though they are just things, beauty always touches a hidden part in every person. John Keats famously said:
'Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.'
I didn't really understand what he meant when I first read this poem at 17, but I think I do now.

Love the cup! I have a set my grandmother gave me before she passed and it is delicate and not my style per se but I appreciate its beauty and meaning.
I have one decorated with violets. My grandmother and I used to pick violets together, then when I was in college, she sent me pressed violets, then later, she gave me the cup.
I love beautiful things, too, but tend to surround myself with photos & momentos from trips and family occasions.
How beautiful it is that you both have something from your grandmothers that holds so many emotions!
